On January 25th Jim Hegg had a stroke on the left side his brain. After surgery and time in ICU, Jim is now stable and his and our focus is on his recovery. Jim knows how to make friends. This web site is a gathering point for all of us that are lucky enough to know and love him. Among Jim’s friends are lawyers, social workers, health care professionals, web designers and a great many other brilliant people. With this site we can coordinate all this talent. We’ll post medical updates. We provide a blog so that we can talk to each other. Additionally, there is a visitation calendar. Visitation DOES NOT REQUIRE USE OF THE CALENDAR. It exists only to ensure that we avoid days with too few or too many visitors. We want to use every medical, practical, emotional, and spiritual tool at our disposal. Hopefully, this web site will be part of Jimmy’s recovery. Jimmy needs us and we need each other. It is amazing how loved Jim is. It’s a beautiful testament to his character and how he treats people.
All suggestions about the web site or anything related to healing are more than welcome. LOVE AND RECOVERY.

Jim is now (as of Sunday May 16th) at Amy and Erwin’s, another move forward for Jim.
Thanks to everyone who worked on the fundraiser! We took in almost exactly what we raised last fundraiser. Really great. And it was a good time too.

Jim has been continuing to improve lately while living at his new apartment in Northbrook and doing rehab at RIC. However, on Wednesday morning he had abdominal pain and the Dr. suggested on the phone that he go to the hospital. Turns out he has a urinay tract infection. He’s at Glenbrook hospital until Saturday at least.

Thank you for making last night’s fundraising event a great success! Congratulations on raising $1,600.
Many friends, family, and co-workers of Jim enjoyed a night of fun at the Gallery Cabaret. We were treated to two powerful sets of inspiring jazz music by the Beau Barry Quartet. Thanks again to Beau for doing a great job organizing this event, and thanks to all the musicians and everyone who helped make this event successful. The Gallery Cabaret was a gracious host, a perfect venue for the event, and also donated to the Jim Hegg Fund.
It was great to see so many people attend. It was nice to meet new people and in some cases reconnect with people we haven’t seen in a long time. Several people who were not able to attend also donated.
The need for more donations is continual, so please continue to donate and spread the word! Jim keeps making good progress, and having great friends like all of you helps!

More details to follow, but as of Tuesday Jim is settling into the Northbrook location.
Email or call for details and to volunteer to spend time with Jim on a regular basis. His care, meds, housing, and therapy are all adding up to be expensive. Any hours that you can regularly volunteer to cover is extremely welcome. Your training will not be difficult and you don’t need to be super-strong because Jim is getting more and more proficient at transferring himself.
Thank you and see you tomorrow at the fundraiser!

If you want to get trained by RIC on how to help Jim… sign up with Bob or Armensue ASAP.
The last week we have been on pins and needles about if his insurance would pay for this last week of therapy at RIC. We finally heard that they will, so that’s great news.
Thanks to everyone for participating and supporting Jim… see you at The Gallery for the 1st Jim Hegg Fundraiser!
